Many Happy Returns

of Freedom’s Third Birthday!

What is Freedom like these days?

Well, he’s a moving target at times all the time, so I have relatively few pictures of this one.

He’s super huggable.

Even when he’s quite literally covered in sidewalk chalk.

That shirt used to be white, see? … and so did the wall, come to think of it…

(Thanks to MelaBrite – but, incidentally, no thanks to oxy-clean or spray-and-wash – it’s white again!)

He’s a great example to his little brother, Gent.

Can I drink bathwater, too, Mom? Please?

He loves doing what the big kids do,

And climbing our plumeria tree.

In fact, more than any other kid I know, Freedom belongs outside.  Not just because when he’s inside he’s coloring on walls or drinking bathwater, but because he just really, really, really loves to be out in the open.  In fact, I can’t even write “he loves being outside.”  Would you write “a fish loves being in the water?”  No.  You’d say fish belong there, and that’s how Freedom is, too.
It’s not like for him it’s a special treat.
For him it’s living and breathing.
It’s just where he belongs.

So thanks, neighbors, for not turning me in to CPS for letting Freedom run rampant through our neighborhood — which is, just for those who don’t know, an extremely safe place, relatively speaking.

Good news, though!  I won’t be letting my two year old run rampant any more.

Because now he’s three!
