What’s the deal with all the cleaning-house, decluttering, tossing-junk posts?

Well, here are links to a few posts to help answer that question:

Thank you for this post. It’s wonderful to know I’m not the only one, and that it’s normal for a mom of multiple kids. There’s many a day where I look around me and say “Where did it all come from? And what could I possibly get rid of?” I have a lot of the Don Aslett books (How to lose 200 lbs in a weekend, Clutter’s Last Stand, etc.) And they’re good for motivating when you want to chuck a bunch of stuff, but I’m at a stand still right now. I don’t even dare to open the book, because I have an elephant to toss. I’ll have to look into your book. Courage take. You’re doing awesome. Moving to Hawaii with the “weight allotment” definitely helped us pare back. But I wasn’t fluent in how to keep the clutter out, and it comes back so quick. Power to you. And don’t give up.

Thanks Molly! Welcome to Smithtopia. :) Fighting clutter is an ongoing battle for sure. I should post a picture of the current front room… But I kinda like to pretend it isn’t there. Maybe if i make a case study of it and plan a post around it I’ll find some motivation to deal with it. Sigh…

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.
