Here’s a little updating you on our sweet daughter, Creativity.

She had a great time at the PCC last Saturday.  We took the family for a quick walk-through, and it was definitely one of our more spontaneous outings.  Grab the kids in whatever they’re wearing, toss ‘em in the car, hang out for an hour, & go home.  It was actually pretty fun.

Next time, though, I’m taking 10 minutes to get my children  into something that looks a little less like we were mucking around doing yardwork all day.  We weren’t, but that’s what it looked like.  At the PCC, you never know when they’re going to end up on stage in front of 50+ well-dressed tourists from Japan.

I’ve been a lazy blogger lately.

Sorry, I still can’t use the word “lazy” without thinking of Lara Gallagher.  (I miss your blog, my friend, but I admire your decision to stay away from this crazy addiction.)

It’s that 2-year-old mess maker, honestly.  I just had to save the playmobil people from drowning in grape jam.  It was lovely, and all over the counter, too.  Once again, no picture.  Sorry.  I guess I just don’t want to remember these crazy adventures.

But earlier today I found this awesome blurb over on a new blog John found.  Well, new to me anyway, and it feels like I’ve added another weapon to my arsenal of Mothers Who Know.  We crazy, thinking-out-of-the-box, wackos have to stick together you know.

Added note: The “pirates” are sailing the seven seas currently, with a “ship” built from every cusion off the play room couch (sigh) and a great big parachute tied to the tops of 5 chairs.

You know, I’m beginning to see that not only do children not *need* toys — they don’t even really *want* them. My kids, at any rate, are perfectly happy just being creative. Maybe I got lucky and happened to get creative genius children. Or maybe I just have three pretty normal kids (albeit abnormally cute, according to my biased opinion) who don’t have commercials …

Further, I can’t find it AND I have an awesome Wordless Wednesday situation going on upstairs. I can’t leave it this way forever, but I so want to share it… What to do, what to do…

I shall just tell you about it.
In fact, I’ll give you a blow-by-blow account of how *I* found out about it.

TIME: Tuesday afternoon.

SETTING: A Dear Friend watched my kids for me while I visited a different friend for about 45 minutes. Yay! It’s always lovely to do something like Visit Teaching w/o kids in tow. Plus, DF’s two daughters had already been over playing all afternoon with Cinderella. All in all, a great situation.

I get back and notice two things:
1 – Cinderella is wearing different clothes. Not a big deal. She hardly ever stays in the same outfit all …

Sunday afternoon.  Freedom protesting nap time like no other.  Older two then left to their own devices while the baby had my undivided attention.

This is what I found 10 minutes later.  Oh, my darling creative children.  What would my world be like w/o you?

Eagle painted such a nice surprise,
With my lipstick and my liner for eyes.

I could take my children and lock them up.
It would be much safer for all my nice makeup.

It isn’t really so, but it sure appears to be,
My children seem to be much smarter than me!

Now, for the love of all things sane, children, let us please take a break from all this fantastic Wordless Wednesday food. Honestly. I’ve had enough during the last week to last me through the next 5 or 6 weeks.
So, so, so much fun.

PS: I only had about a half-dozen people ask me about E’s black eye that day whilst running errands.  (A baby wipe can only do so much for that makeup job.)  …

No, the reason I should get my little rear in gear is to prevent the chaos that happens when they sneak downstairs and have time to make their own creative breakfasts.

I think it was three times last week my munchkins had sugar-loaded you-name-it, while Mommy slumbered away with the baby who sleeps solidly and reliably… from about 5am-8am.

(Yes, we hide our candy.  Yes, we child-lock our candy-hiding cupboards.  They’re just creative geniuses, that’s all.)
