Life is our little corner of the universe.

A pine tree will do that…

A pine tree will do that…

We set up the tree Saturday and decorated it together last Sunday.  It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas… And I’m grateful for every little (and big) influence in my life helping the real spirit of Christmas come this year. This year has a much more special, sweet, sacred feel about it.  No,...

Miracles

December 3, 2010

This post was written before we left for a pretty long vacation around Thanksgiving.  Meant to post it, but couldn’t bear to do so without a picture of some kind… And now you’re getting it 3 weeks later, visually boring anyway!  Ha! We know I have this funky “complication” going on with my negative blood...

My Stati Today

November 6, 2010

This was from Tuesday, 10/26. Yes, I know “stati” isn’t a word.  It’s quite a bit more fun to say than “statuses,” though.  I’m leaving it. So here they are.  My statusi (ooh, that’s good too!) for the day since I’m not spending any time on facebook this week. (I could quit.  Any time.  Really!) Mrs.Smith… hopes the baby...

Traditions

Picture Overload Warning! I saved the best for last, though, so scroll down all the way even if you don’t take time to read my mumbo-jumbo.  Traditions hold families and communities together.  As a general rule, I’m a fan of family-bonding, community-fostering, wholesome-activity type traditions. This is our first Sunday-Halloween in Utah.  Growing up...

It’s the little things

It’s the little things

A trash can that can handle this: makes me very happy. We had two or three months of trash can drama.  Do you want to hear about it?  Well, okay, if you insist.  And here I thought no one but me would be interested in something quirky and random like this! The Trash Can Drama The old one...

Isn’t Auntie Lou cute?  How we love her.  “B” loves her, too, but that’s different drama. I’m glad we tried that $3 mini-can.  Totally worth it.  That red was too cherry-red.  I would have been happy with it, true, but… … this red was much nicer. I llllllllloooooooooovvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeee it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AND! I’m giving all of you a charge.  Very...

Change

Have I told you Mr. Smith lost his mind and completely rearranged his schedule? 2 weeks now it’s been and so far so good.  I think. He’s home all afternoon on Sunday, and usually home all evening, too.  He still has his early-morning leadership-type meetings, but other than that and the hour right after church, nothing! Sundays...

To Comment or Not To Comment…

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
