The Empty Bowl

May 30, 2010
The Empty Bowl

That’s the shelf.  The first of my “empty bowl” shelves.  It’s discovery wasn’t all that glamorous, really. Short story: I was just trying to find a place to put that bowl and my kitchen cupboards weren’t big enough. Longer story: I finally found homes for the last of our wedding presents.  You know, the ones...

Compassion

Compassion

I love ah-ha moments.  Wish they came more often.  In writing “Part Four: Show Time!” (about F’s delivery) I reminded myself of a sweet little moment that happened a few weeks before Freedom was born.  Then I wrote a few lines and never came back to it.  Well, here it is, finally fleshed out...

Sleep Training Myself

Sleep Training Myself

I’m in the middle of sleep training. Sleep-training the baby? No.  Not really.  He’s doing alright, all things considered. The two year old?  Nope.  He’s made the transition into the toddler bed without too much fuss over the last few weeks.  Good job, little man!  I’m in the middle of sleep-training myself. I shall explain, and since it’s my...

More

May 16, 2010

In my quest for less, I find myself needing more… A Lovely Arrangement More holiness give me, more strivings within. More patience in suffering, more sorrow for sin. More faith in my Savior, more sense of His care. More joy in His service, more purpose in prayer. More gratitude give me, more trust in the Lord. More zeal for His glory,...

Toys, toys, toys

Toys, toys, toys

…above a small cupboard full of… Junk? No! Not any more anyway. In preparation for “the big move” coming, I have consolidated ALL my children’s toys… get this…. to fit… in…. THAT cupboard. What big move? Well, we decided we really don’t need a house this big, so we’re looking for something about half this size. JUST KIDDING! We’re staying in our too-big...

To Comment or Not To Comment…

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
