Birthdays

by Mrs. Smith on February 23, 2012

We had two birthdays this month.  Someone was super excited about his new number.  Somebody else was… not.

Creativity set up the centerpiece for me as a little birthday surprise.  She’s got more style in her pinky finger than I do in all my 29+1 years.  (The roses perked up the next day, by the way.)

Cupcakes for the party

Cake for the family dinner

The sugar coma is over now, and I’m hoping to keep them off sugar for the next decade.

My neighbor made the cupcakes for me at the last minute. She's so awesome. :)

I’m so grateful for our sweet four year old dragon, I mean, boy.  I enjoyed all the time spent making little surprises for his birthday.  I didn’t take many pictures, and even fewer videos, but I will always remember his happy squeal when he saw that little stuffed dragon.

“TOOTHYESS!” he cried, as he picked it up, squeezed it, and flapped it around the room, “Baby Toothyess!”

And my heart melted.

My heart melted again every time he told someone thank you.  I didn’t have to prompt him even once.  Wowzers!   He even asked if the birthday fairy had a phone number.

“Well, I don’t think so.  Why would you want to call her?”

“To tell her thank you!”

Awesome.

As a side-note, we had a short visit with John’s grandmom earlier in February.  What a joy!

And speaking of Doodle, he drew a picture of our family the other month.  It was up on our fridge for a LONG, long, long time before Eagle pointed out the discrepancy.  I hadn’t even noticed it.  Can you find it?

And that’s all from us for now!

:)

Well… isn’t it about time for that? Anyway, maybe he knows something. You know how these little ones are extra in tune with heaven and stuff. ;)

Happy Birthday! Being 30 isn’t so bad. And six is a magic number. :)
