Gratitude vs. The Ham – part 2
- The Plot Thickens -
Ding-dong!
“Hi Sister Smith!”
“Hello there son-of-a-friend-dressed-in-his-scout-uniform. What’s up?”
“Have you heard about the Thanksgiving umu pit?”
“Nope, what is it?”
“Well, the Boy Scouts are doing a fundraiser. For $15 you can bring your ham or turkey over on the evening before Thanksgiving; we bake it all night in a traditional Samoan umu pit, and then you can come pick it up the next morning, all cooked for you!”
Now doesn’t that sound cool? A way to try something new and different? Something uniquely… Polynesian?
And it helps the cute little Boy Scouts. Aw. Soft spot in my heart for little boys, you know.
So I signed up. Count me in! Hawaiian Thanksgiving, here we come! Man, this is going to be one awesome holiday, let me tell you. And this ham… oh, boy… it’s gonna be good!

and…? Hurry up already!
