Guess What I Found Out Your Window…

by Mrs. Smith on June 23, 2011

Dear Smithlings,
Mommy and Daddy got the keys to our new home today.  BYU actually owns it – not us – so we’ll have to take good care of it for them.  They said we could live here as long as we want to, though, and I can’t at this moment think of any reason we’d want to move.
I had a great time running through the place and seeing what it’s like.  I bet when you get here you’ll do the same thing.   There are lots of great things about our house here.  We have a garage with clever storage places, there’s super-nice drawers & cupboards in the kitchen, and a fun under-the-stairs closet you can play in.   I discovered my favorite thing, however, when I opened the curtains in your bedroom.  It made me gasp with unexpected delight.  This is what I saw:

Sometimes all you can say is "Wow." Other times all you can say is, "Thank you." This is both of those times put together.

No kidding.

There’s a similar view out the window in our dining/front room.  I’ll have to get a picture of that, too, now that it’s dark outside and the temple is all lit up.  Here it is:

Zoomed in for maximum effect, but taken through our dining window.

I am simply speechless about it.

<This is me being speechless some more.>

You are going to love it here!   I should warn you that because food is more expensive here and because it’s better for you anyway, we’re going to be making most things from scratch.  You get to by Mommy’s Cooking Helpers and Mommy’s Garden Gnomes and Mommy’s Super Amazing Working Heroes.  It’s going to be lots of fun once you get used to it.  Once we ALL get used to it, I should say!  But don’t worry.  With all the hard work we do, we’ll be playing hard, too.  We’ll go swimming at BYU, we’ll go to lots of different beaches and figure out which ones we like best, we’ll go hiking in the jungle (no kidding!) and maybe even find waterfalls!

Doodle, you’ll be happy to see this picture I took for you:

A climbing tree complete with new friends!

And this one, too.  It’s the first gecko I’ve seen here who’s stood still long enough for a picture:

Our back gate. Such a tiny little gecko! He wasn't even as long as my pointer finger.

And here are just a few more picture for you.  This little boy is going to be very happy to see all of you next week!

Can you see Little Gent?

Knock Knock! Who's there?

Ta-da!

Doesn’t Freedom have a funny smile when he knows you’re taking his picture?  It makes me laugh.

Well, Mommy’s going to sleep now.  What a great day, to finally get to see our new place.  It won’t really feel like home until we’re all safely in it next week, but until then I’ll keep working to get it as settled as I can!  Daddy will be with you again very soon and I’m sure you’ll be glad to see him.  He’s going to be glad to see you, too.  Be nice, though, because he’s going to be on a plane or in an airport all night long and it’s pretty hard to sleep well when you’re travelling like that.

Love and Hugs,
Mommy

Me too! or is it me either? That just doesn’t sound right. At any rate, I concur! You totally should.

Okay. It’s a date for sometime in the future. I’ll keep my eye on airfares.

We are told to have pictures of the temple in our home, well, I think you’ve just one-upped that council! I can’t imagine the peace the presence of the temple will bring into your home. How beautiful, and what a blessing.

We were supposed to get together before I left, so the only way to restore balance to the universe is for you to come visit. Yep. ‘fraid so.
