If…

August 14, 2010

If you don’t have a clean dish in the house…

If you’ve reached the “don’t have a clean shirt, either” state…

If your kids now look for clothes on the floor instead of in their dressers…

If you’re kind of regretting taking down that curtain & ripping up that carpet…

If you haven’t made your bed in over a week [cringe]…

If your blog is becoming quite neglected and it’s not likely to get better any time soon…

If you hate using your microwave, you happily banished it to the dungeon laundry room months ago where it is used only by your spouse for the purpose of melting butter for popcorn,
AND YET you found yourself tearfully stocking up on frozen (don’t call them TV-) dinners at the grocery store…

Speaking of TV,

If you let your kids watch THREE and a half movies yesterday afternoon – yes, just after posting your little anti-media soapbox – because you figured detox would be the same after three as it would be for one…

If your kids have perfected the phrase, “Aw, poor Mommy!”

If all of this is happening, and you just want to spend your time like this…

You might be me,

and the reason for all of the above might be because…

There’s   a   baby    coming    in    March!

Okay, let me say it a little louder.

There’s a baby coming in March!

Answers to all your excited questions to come in another post soon.  ;)

Okay.  I confess, I did dishes this morning – not because I cared to have them clean, really, but because it’s so much more pleasant to throw up in the sink than the toilet.  [nod to Lara G.] I bet you really wanted to know that, huh.

Also. Now that I think about it, the hammock up there would be no good for my hyper-sensitive motion-sickness.  Ooooh, ick.  I’m going to have to find a different happy place.  Beach chair on the sand, yes.  Much better.

Congratulations! You and the Mr. are excellent parents and baby Smith couldn’t come to better. Best wishes.

P.S. Don’t beat yourself up about the movies either. We’ve all done it.

Can I say that I love you again? Really, the things I miss when I go on vacation . . .

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
