Huzzah!

Once upon a time there were three pairs of jeans.

One fit well and was well-loved.  So well loved there came to be big holes over the knees.  The second and third pairs were cute – but didn’t fit so well.  Not really.  Not after four little heirs to the throne came along.

And so the Queen looked in her closet and sent out a proclamation.

“Enough is enough!” she said, “This is silly.  Let these useless old jeans be transformed into a beautiful skirt!”

The great necromancer, Google, was summoned and consulted, but -alas- the Queen was not satisfied.

“No, Google, I don’t want a short skirt!  Short skirts are all but useless with all the little princelings I must constantly chase down and carry.  Show me a pattern for a nice, long skirt.”

But, alas, Google came up empty handed.

Thus it happened that the Queen took matters into her own hands, even though she isn’t a seamstress.

Hole-y knees

Got smart and *cut* (rather than seam-ripped) the last pieces.

Hand to hand-stitch the tricky parts.

Somebody short had the lighter-colored jeans before the Queen, and wore out the backs.

See?

(Okay, that was blurry.  Not surprising, since the photographer was four years old.  We’ll try another and see if it worked better.)

Nope, that's not much better. Cute back pocket, though,eh? ;)

Psst!  Don’t look at the junk on the play room floor.

You’re going to.  I can tell.  You’ll regret it.

No, Don’t do it!

Oh no, Eagle, don't get me!

Aw, man, I told you not to!  Now I have to go clean it up.  Sigh.  And I was SO looking forward to catching up on your blogs tonight.  See what you made me do?  I’ll be so far behind in Blogland I’ll never catch up.  Oh well.  At least the play room will be clean.  Prob’ly the front room too, since one usually follows the other.

Grrr.

So the Queen sewed her own skirt just the way she wanted it, and it turned out beautifully.  It is, in fact, her very most favorite skirt she’s ever owned and she plans to wear it while she finds time to make another one.

And they all lived happily ever after.

The end.

Next time, the queen ought to consider taking photos along the way and posting a tutorial so that queens in other kingdoms may benfit from her immense wisdome. ;)

Her Majesty might have done so, had the computer been more agreeable when it came to downloading pictures. Off with its head!!!

I’m impressed. I have a few pairs of jeans I’ve been waiting to do that to, but haven’t done it yet. On the list.

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.
