In the Element

Having finished a neat book called The Element recently, I’m a little more observant of what it is and who’s in it when.

The Element

(with a capital E) is…. That feeling you get when you’re doing something you love.  It’s what drives people (or what should drive them) to become musicians, artists, politicians, teachers, etc.  When you’re in your “zone” you feel energized and alive.  Your Element makes you come to life and be at your best.

I’m not really doing it justice here, and I don’t intend to.

Mostly I wanted to post something more current than that last post so the world knows I’m over that crazy day.  ;)

The kids have their first dance recital tonight.  Yesterday we were dress-rehearsal-ing ALL day long.

I didn’t plan for that, and I should have been a frazzled mess.  But I wasn’t.  Why?

I was in my Element and oh-my-goodness-can-I-tell-you-how-awesome-it-was?!!!!!  I loved it!  All 9 hours of it.

Can’t wait for tonight.

Except then it will be over.  Sigh.

So hold your breath for pictures and maybe even video snipets of the world’s cutest kids performing in the best dance recital ever.

(A biased opinion is still an opinion.)

;)

So… is your Element helping little kids prepare for something big, or just dancing like a little kid?

    Can’t wait to see pic’s!

Ooh, good insight, Mareena! Thanks for that. Yes, I think it very well might be preparing my kids for something big. My focus had been on the dance recital itself, because I really do love the performing arts… But this was a thrill I had never (or at least rarely) experienced in the performing I did as a kid.

Here’s to you having many more days in your element!

Do you have a goodreads account? I’d love to see what you are reading. : )

No, I don’t… But I shall look into it. :) I just finished The Element, and I’ve lately been reading and rereading June’s Ensign. I’m pretty sure they printed this one just for me.

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
