Taking it Easy

Sometimes the answer to “What should I do?” is more simple than we want to hear.

Amidst all the clutter calling to screaming at me in the library/office, laundry room, and all the bedrooms upstairs, there’s a little voice telling me to

“Maintain ground covered.  Slow down.”

So that’s what I’m doing.  Sometimes I sneak in and tackle a shelf in the library… but then I take a big breath and stop.  It really is wise to learn to take care of the things we’ve cleaned before we go on and clear more space.  Otherwise it might unravel, which is what has happened every other time I’ve tried this.

:)

Aside from that, it’s been a busy, wonderful, crazy week.  I am going to need some *serious* me-time tomorrow.  An hour or two completely to myself?  Mmmm…. yes, please! And a nap?  Well, if you insist.

Pictures, pictures, pictures.  What to throw in here so you aren’t visually dissatisfied?

Great new friends

Super-fun new friends

tropical adventure on a cold, cold day.

There ya go.  Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!  Here in Smithtopia we’ll be trying to strike the balance between working hard and relaxing after a long week.  Wish us luck!

Oh yes.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Head over here for some really beautiful thoughts on motherhood, since my brain is too mushy to write any of my own at the moment.

    You deserve the break.

One time I was talking to a friend about something I needed to do but kept putting off and I justified it by saying, “I’m just lazy.”

She said, “No you’re not. You have four kids.”

I’ve thought about that a lot. How just having four children automatically means something will not get done–and, as long as it isn’t one of those children, it’s okay.

I’ve had to change my mindset some, about always doing. I’ve become better at just being.

I hope you enjoyed your ‘me’ time!

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
