First Date

It’s been a long time since I’ve gone on a first date.  It’s taken me quite a while to get the courage to ask him out.  Can’t blame me for wanting to, though.

He’s…

Handsome

Handsome

Brave

Brave

Focused

Fun to be with

And most of all –

He makes me happy!

I wanted to make a good impression, so I took him somewhere super special.

On the way there I tried making small talk.

“So.  What’s your favorite thing to do?”

The quick reply came,

“Spend time with you.”

Wow!  What a great conversationalist!

We went to see a play I thought he’d enjoy.

The 3 Musketeers

When we got there, he went around the car and opened the door for me.  Someone sure raised him well, I tell you what.  I think he might have been a little excited, because he smacked the car next to us when he opened his door.  Oops.  No damage done, thank goodness!

He held my hand on the way in — kind of fast for a first date, but we have known each other for over 4 years now. Ya might say we go way back.

Smooth

I think he liked the play (during which there was more hand-holding, and the rascal even sat on my lap!)

but when I asked him what his favorite part was, he simply replied,

“Being with you.”

Have I mentioned he’s a great conversationalist?

We’ll definitely be going out again.

(Although maybe not to a play.  He’d probably be just as happy taking an ice cream cone to a park!)

Glad you guys had a great time; should I be jealous of this date? :D

:) Don’t think so. Not this time.

Well, if that changes such that I should be jealous, be sure to let me know, hrmm?

What a hot date! And a real sweetheart. :) I love that he opened the door for you. It shows that he has been trained by a real gentleman. Go “John”!

When we got back to the car for the drive home, I tried to avoid a repeat bashing of the car next to us, but he remembered then, too. “No, no, Mommy! *I* have to get *your* door!” So sweet.

I think about that sometimes when I get caught up in how much I simply adore him.

So long as she makes him eternally happy, too!

What a sweet gentleman! This is funny because just before I read it I was at the Hale Theatre website looking at this play! I want to take my boy to it too. Was it good?

Well, truth be told, the plot was rather pg13 if you ask me. 85% swordplay, 15% saving the unfailful Queen’s reputation… :/ I didn’t loose much sleep over it since I’m absolutely certain Doodle had no idea what was going on as far as the plot was concerned…
      1) If I had known beforehand, I would have had second-thoughts.
      2) A 12 year old would probably figure it out.

So, yeah. Maybe not the best and brightest idea I’ve ever had… Peter Pan would have been better for what I had in mind. ;)

So sweet. Those red-heads are heart-stealers for sure.

This post made me cry. It’s the same thing that happened when I took my daughter to the Nutcracker for Christmas (though, no door opening, we were going dutch…the whole girl/girl thing). I’m always amazed at how much our children love us, even when we wonder what they are thinking. :)

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
