First Date
It’s been a long time since I’ve gone on a first date. It’s taken me quite a while to get the courage to ask him out. Can’t blame me for wanting to, though.
He’s…
And most of all –
I wanted to make a good impression, so I took him somewhere super special.
On the way there I tried making small talk.
“So. What’s your favorite thing to do?”
The quick reply came,
“Spend time with you.”
Wow! What a great conversationalist!
We went to see a play I thought he’d enjoy.
When we got there, he went around the car and opened the door for me. Someone sure raised him well, I tell you what. I think he might have been a little excited, because he smacked the car next to us when he opened his door. Oops. No damage done, thank goodness!
He held my hand on the way in — kind of fast for a first date, but we have known each other for over 4 years now. Ya might say we go way back.
I think he liked the play (during which there was more hand-holding, and the rascal even sat on my lap!)
but when I asked him what his favorite part was, he simply replied,
“Being with you.”
Have I mentioned he’s a great conversationalist?
We’ll definitely be going out again.
(Although maybe not to a play. He’d probably be just as happy taking an ice cream cone to a park!)

Glad you guys had a great time; should I be jealous of this date?
Well, if that changes such that I should be jealous, be sure to let me know, hrmm?
What a hot date! And a real sweetheart.
I love that he opened the door for you. It shows that he has been trained by a real gentleman. Go “John”!
When we got back to the car for the drive home, I tried to avoid a repeat bashing of the car next to us, but he remembered then, too. “No, no, Mommy! *I* have to get *your* door!” So sweet.
Awwww…cute!
So adorable! What a sweetie! He’ll make some girl eternally happy one day.
I think about that sometimes when I get caught up in how much I simply adore him.
So long as she makes him eternally happy, too!
Oh, how very sweet! Cutie pie hat!
What a sweet gentleman! This is funny because just before I read it I was at the Hale Theatre website looking at this play! I want to take my boy to it too. Was it good?
Well, truth be told, the plot was rather pg13 if you ask me. 85% swordplay, 15% saving the unfailful Queen’s reputation… :/ I didn’t loose much sleep over it since I’m absolutely certain Doodle had no idea what was going on as far as the plot was concerned…
1) If I had known beforehand, I would have had second-thoughts.
2) A 12 year old would probably figure it out.
So, yeah. Maybe not the best and brightest idea I’ve ever had… Peter Pan would have been better for what I had in mind.
So sweet. Those red-heads are heart-stealers for sure.
This post made me cry. It’s the same thing that happened when I took my daughter to the Nutcracker for Christmas (though, no door opening, we were going dutch…the whole girl/girl thing). I’m always amazed at how much our children love us, even when we wonder what they are thinking.
