On my mind

I was coming here to say basically what she said.

BUT, in addition to that, I have to share a story.  Because it might just be impossible for me to publish a post with fewer than 1,500 words.  Sorry, it’s just who I am.   ;)

SO.  I…

No, too many details.  I don’t want to bore you.  Short story, must think short…

Brain hurting.

I’ll let you follow me.  Experience what I did.  That’d be the best.

I went here,

then here,

then here,

looking for an all-encompassing link to share with someone unfamiliar with what “Conference” us crazy Mormon folk are talking about this weekend.  I wasn’t overly impressed… (I mean, don’t get me wrong here!  the Church is true, Conference is amazing, but the website… looks… a little… dare I say, boring?)

Then my Sweetheart (who’s been working on this for, um, a long time) suggests I go

here.

Ah, yes!  I remembered, “beta” is up!  The super-cool-awesomeness that John showed me forever-ago is public!

So I went there, and then

HERE.

And then I was so happy I nearly cried (probably because of the late hour more than the coolness of the site… but then again… it IS a really spiffy site.)

The joy got even bigger when I went here after that.

Audio and visual archives?  ALREADY?????   Like, I could click on a talk, copy the link, and send someone to the video of my favorite talk from TODAY’S conference??????????

Dude, I love my husband.  And his job.  It so totally rocks.

And so does the new look for lds.org.

Ooh, nice. I need to look up President Uchtdorf’s talk from the priesthood session–I’ve been hearing buzz from my family already.

I noticed when I went to watch online on Saturday, that I could start from the beginning, even though we were behind about 15 min getting to the computer. It was great to feel that even though we were doing our best and just didn’t get there in time, we didn’t have to miss anything! It was so cool!!!! Thanks John!

Glad there is so much enjoyment and happiness around the https://beta.lds.org/?locale=eng experience. Be sure to check back as content, applications, and “cool” stuff increases. And, lest you think I’m the only one involved, there are dozens of folks involved in progressing His Kingdom through technology, including improvements to online web experiences. So, you’re welcome, but be sure to give the thanks to Him whose work this is – all Saints are collectively His hands, to borrow a reference from President Uchtdorf’s Sunday morning talk (https://beta.lds.org/general-conference/watch?locale=eng&type=conference&event=april180&articleid=022 ).

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
