Needs.

My sister needs a blog.
Why?
Because I said so.
Just kidding.
The real reason is that so when I’m up at midnight with a screaming baby, I can have access to her perky, happy, upbeat, cheery sunshine-ness in a blog format. Facebook is just not cutting it. Especially because she hasn’t done much on facebook in forever… Although I definitely got a kick out of the pictures one of her friends posted of their annonymous Valentine-heart-attack. Ah, college days.

I guess if she were our live-in nanny (which would be AWESOME) then I could just wake her up and say, “Okay. Talk to me,” and then life would be better.

Oh well. Life goes on. Here’s hoping that the almost-2 year old’s photo shoot goes well tomorrow in spite of a tired mommy.
Except, look at that, it isn’t tomorrow. Said shoot happens today. It was so smart of me to pick their earliest appointment time, too. Very smart.
Groan.

How did that phrase go?
Ah, yes.

Oh well.

And here’s hoping I’ll take time to do a lovely post about the romantic-getaway John surprised me with. I’m sort of waiting to do that until the shock wears off. What shock? The one that happens when you have 3 nights and 4 days of being blissfully alone with your adoring spouse, and then you have to go back to the reality of being home with four kids needing & demanding your attention all the time.

Holy cow, is it a lot of work!
A lot of ear-piercing, mind-blowing, sanity-compromising work.

With perks, of course.
Like cute toddler kisses, soft baby hugs, and listening your four year old read on his own for the first time.

Those perks = very nice.
The part where you’re laying in bed trying to sleep with the 5 month old screaming in protest no matter how much you burp, snuggle, feed, or think, “SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEP CHILD! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS WELL-RESTED, SLEEP!!!!”
..Yeah…
Fun stuff.  Not as perky.

Have I rambled enough yet? I think I have.
Sorry this post isn’t very visually appealing.
I’m feeling a bit guilty about that.
Hm… Let’s see what I can find to reward you for getting this far.
Oh yeah. This is good.

Random? Yes.
Related? Only in its randomness.
Why post it?
It made me smile in that “it’s so dumb I think it’s hilarious” kind of late-night, sleep-deprived way.

I hope the photoshoot goes well! That’s awesome that you got a getaway, sorry that the baby won’t sleep…I hate that. :(

Seriously, we need to do a playday. :)

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
