Something’s Missing

This little girl had a loose tooth.  jan 010cropThe very same tooth that once upon a time caused her weeks of pain while it grew in.

Ah! The scary rose of doom!!!
Ah! The scary rose of doom!!!

Yes, the good old days, where she screamed all the time.  Except when she wasn’t, and then I had my camera ready.  Colicy baby?  No, no… All babies cry constantly unless you’re holding them, right?  Right.  Thank goodness one is only a first-time parent once.

Anyway, those little teeth sure were lovely when they finally came in.  See?

Okay, so you have to zoom in to see them properly.  They got bigger.

No, these were not edited to increase the cuteness factor.  She really was that stinkin’ cute.  Even cuter sometimes, if you can believe it.

Enough of memory lane, although that was super fun and I know you’re all sad to not see more more more pictures of my darling baby daughter.  She’s not so little any more.  And something is missing now.

I wasn’t in the room when it happened, but I sure heard about it after.  It had something to do with trying to open a pop-lid can of pineapple with that partially loose tooth.  Crunch.  Cinderella dislodged it so much (“It” being the tooth, not the can.  The can was unmoved.) she thought, “Hey, I bet I can just pull this sucker out.”

So she did.

And then she screamed for an hour.

It was lots of fun, let me tell you.

But eventually the bleeding stopped, the pain went away, and then it was cool.  I mean, this is the first time the actual Tooth Fairy has been invited to our house… Excitement! jan 092

Just thought I’d share.

LOVE this post!!!! We had a rather traumatic first tooth loss last year. Brent was devastated that his body was falling apart.

LOL at the rose of doom!!!

VERY cool. (And also cute–what a baby!)

I like your new blog look, too. Quite “modin” and streamlined.

That’s “modern” in British, if you couldn’t tell.)

I already know (being the incredibly lucky mom that I am) that the tooth fairy in your house has very pretty scrolly handwriting for writing notes to kids that had to wait a while for their teeth to get picked up at my house. P.S. Kaisa just lost another tooth. Mommy helped her “wiggle it” all the while singing a song about her wiggly-piggly tooth so as to get her to laugh & distract her the fact that Mom was actually yanking it out for her. LOL!!!

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
