Smithmas

So these are basically all the photos I have from the Smith-side family gathering on Friday.  I’m the most camera-happy of all the family over there, and their not-as-picture-crazy-ness rubs off on me when I’m there.  It is what it is, and it’s always a great time when we get together.  There just isn’t always proof later.

:)

The super-cute little Santa up there is Twin#2 – well over 6lbs now at a month old and doing great.  They both are.  And their parents are surviving, even without much sleep.  ;)

AND!

That charming turquoise polyester suit with matching slippers is –GUESS WHAT!– John’s blessing outfit!  (!!!!!!!!!!!!!)  My mother in law found it just in time.  Freedom fit it then, but it probably doesn’t fit now that it’s been a  few days.  Can’t tell you how tickled pink I am about that 30 year old outfit.  I was hoping to snatch a photo of John, Freedom, *and* his mommy – but said grandma was holding Twin#1 during my window of opportunity.  Rough life, having so many sweet little grandbabies to hold.

All of our boys have worn a blessing outfit that was not only their dad’s, but also their grandpa’s (because I know you are dying to see it: http://jacobandlinn.blogspot.com/2008/02/joyful-day.html). It is almost 60 years old and I love it! Our little Annie wore mine–although another day or two and she wouldn’t have fit into it. Such a sweet thing. Love the the photos!

It says it does not exist. Uh, yeah it lies. If you are just dying to see (not likely) you can go to February 2008 on our archive and check out Februrary 3, 2008. Okay, would you like six more comments from me? I didn’t think so.

Please pardon my sneaking over here to your blog, but I just wanted to wish you congratulations on winning Ashley’s “S’Quarrels” giveaway. My husband designed the game, and we are thrilled that an active, game-playing family won! We hope you enjoy playing “S’Quarrels” as much as we do!!

You are welcome here any time, Megan! Always happy to have people “sneak” over here to enjoy life with me.

What a fun Christmas! Sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy things and not worry about taking pictures – but then you don’t have pictures to remember everything you enjoyed without a camera! I’m always torn about that. :) I love the turquoise outfit. :)

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
