In Love

December 19, 2009

In love with who? My husband, of course. But also his job. Mm-hm. I love what he does, even if he’s bored with it.

Have you seen the new websites our church has put together? Seriously, folks, it’s awesome stuff. Awesome, wonderful, SOOOO much better than the old stuff with which you may be more familiar.  My talented and intelligent sweetheart is involved with creating this stuff somehow. (Not content, though.  If you have problems with content, he’s not the guy to hound.)  John tells me, but I immediately forget how to relay what exactly it is he does with computers because I don’t understand much of how it works.  IT something or other.  One of these days I’ll get it down.

Anyway…

Their Christmas site, for one, I love.  safe_image(Christmas?  They have an entire site just about Christmas?  Yes they do.)  Can you believe this has been up ALL MONTH and I just now found out about it.  Sheesh.

Their new site for youth.

Fabulous, even if it is still getting the wrinkles smoothed out..  I wish I was 12 again.  Well, okay, I don’t.  I (think) I’m a much better person now, and I love my life too much right now to trade places with anyone – even myself… But still.  Check it out.  What?!  You can’t go there?  Okay.  Sorry, folks.  False alarm.  I got to see it -lucky me-when John was logged in to work.  Silly me.  I thought the “labs” version was available to everyone.  But it’s not.  Boo… Good news, though.  It’ll be public in just over a week.  Whew!

The jesuschrist.lds.org site.  Very nice.

Just for the record, I can.not. wait for lds.org to get its facelift too! (!!!!!!!!!)

PS:  Not that you *have* to, becase of course that’s up to you — But if you have input for John as to how these sites could be better, feel free to leave some feedback here.  He’d love to hear it.  And if you have input along the lines of “Dude!  This is supercalafragalistic!  You so totally ROCK!”  That’d be nice for him to hear too.  He thinks my opinion is a bit biased.  Which it is.

PPS:  To members of my stake – You can go to http://labs.lds.org, sign in, and get a peek at that facelift I was talking about.

ldsorg-home-teaserTheir new ward directory is a huge improvement, and the Conference stuff is great.

labs-gcI love how you can highlight things in the talks, make notes right there, tag different topics… Welcome -finally- to the present, lds.org!

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
