Yo ho ho! Another “Piwate Pawty”

Doodle turned 4 the other week, and guess where we went?!

Avast! What a skeery pile o' bones!

Avast! What a skeery pile o' bones!

Nope, not Disneyland, although -yes- I felt like we’d walked into the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.  We went to a new restaurant in Orem called Pirate Island!   It was awesome!!!  Two big thumbs up.  Or maybe one pointer finger in the shape of a hook.  Aaaaaargh!
Almost a family picture. Almost.

Almost a family picture. Almost.

Cinderella was scared at first, but she mellowed out a bit after the grandparents and cousins came.  She be a bit lilly-livered, if ye know what I’m sayin’.  And not that I really blame her.  Check out this “doorway,” for instance.

If I were 5 years old, I’d feel the same way, I’m sure.

For those curious, the food was great by my standards.  We ordered three gigantic pizzas, fed 25 people (10 were kids), and still had leftovers — which were awesome the next day, by the way.  I’m still filled with gratitude that my hubby was willing to humor me on this one.

(Granted, I told him if we didn’t go there we’d be hosting a party, and he’d be in charge of making sure the main living areas were spotless.  And he couldn’t pay someone else to do it.  That worked when he was a teenager and wanted out of chores <one of my fave stories>, but the point was that I really didn’t wanna host a party this year.  <big cheesey grin>)

He enjoyed it just as much as I did.  See?

Happier parents there could not be.

These are some of the marvelous folks who came:

"John"s parents & adorable grandma "GG"

You’d never guess she’s 8mo preggy with twins, would you?  (No, not my Grandma, silly.  Look down.  There you go.)  In fact, I think she may have had the little treasures last night/this morning.  Need to check up on that.
John's amazing sister & awesome hubby.

Me & A-Mann. Yo.

Sometimes I still can’t believe my little siblings are grown up.
(And Mom, you can too make a good pirate face!  Ha!)   Something about those pirate hats just brings out the best in all of us.  I really missed my other little brother & his little wifey.  It wasn’t quite a complete get-together w/o them.  :(

Speaking of mom, I’m glad she brought her camera.  Whew!  Crisis averted.

Also in attendance but not pictured were — John’s oldest, sister Lyndell, whose annonymity is compromised ‘cuz I didn’t get a picture of them and can’t figure out how to identify her w/o potentially sounding rude (good thing I know she’s got a great sense of humor!), & her family, Uncle A’s girlfriend Kaylene, and… hm.  Who else?  I’m forgetting someone.  Hm.  Oh well.
Bottom line.  We had a good time.  Doodle is a happy 4 yo, very spoiled by all those presents from generous family members (we love you too!), and he seems to have forgiven his mommy for not making a cake that day.  Someday I might let that go, too.  Maybe.
(Probably after I make it up to him by making the best birthday cake ever for his 5th bday.  Yeah. It’s gonna be awesome.)

All in all, I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it as much as I did.  See?

    Behind on my blogging–

    Fun party.
    Great idea with the blinds.
Glad you made it through de-tox (I wish I were that strong).
I’ll keep trying to be a good housekeeper if you do.

    Have a great day.

What a fun place! I think I remember seeing something like that on a “Full House” episode years (and years and years) ago – pirate hats, pizza, and all. I followed your lead today and Wes didn’t watch any TV, even when I was still finishing my Seminary lesson that I started during his nap…he just sat in my lap and watched me type. He doesn’t need it, no one “needs” it, it’s just convenient sometimes to watch TV; but it was more enjoyable, and memorable, to have him cuddle on my lap while I typed.

That looks awesome! I love cheesy themed restaurants like that! :) The pirate faces picture with the baby all wrapped up and the pirate hat on is awesome!

Prices are rather what you’d expect, Elizabeth, although if you go for lunch it’s on the cheaper side of a sit-down restaurant. Cheaper than Macaroni Grill, about the same as Red Robin… And the food was very decent quality. The super-giant “Kraken” size was $35 – as many of whatever toppings you want. I’d say each pizza fed at least 6 grown-ups… but I might be exaggerating. No, I don’t think I am. It really was enormous.

awww, wish i could have been there too! we hosted miss E’s birthday party this year, with 2 other girls that have their birthday the same day… and with 25 kids in the house, we were SO HAPPY the weather was nice and we could host most of it outside!!

So, darling daughter, how did you manage to appear in every picture at the party? :)

It was the hair honeymoon. I wanted to see that new ‘do in as many angles as possible.

Don’t worry, folks. The honeymoon’s over. I still love the hair, but I’m quite used to it now… which means I can go a day or two without “fixing” it up, and it doesn’t inspire (read: force) me into wearing makeup to match it. And on those days I definitely won’t be sneaking into the back and side of pictures being taken.
    ;)

That's a very good question.
I am happy to hear from you, thrilled to hear from you!, but I am also content to have you drop by, read a little, laugh a little, and move on quietly to whatever else you have to do. This is a guilt-free blog. ;)

Just a Reminder…

The Church is not a place where perfect people gather to say perfect things, or have perfect thoughts, or have perfect feelings. The Church is a place where imperfect people gather to provide encouragement, support, and service to each other as we press on in our journey to return to our Heavenly Father. ~Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, (May 2005 Ensign)

Why I Try

God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future - to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities. God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers, and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.

~Jeffrey R. Holland, "This, the Greatest of All Dispensations"

"It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the...women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and... purifying to the children of men." Joseph F. Smith, in this talk by Elder Ballard
